neil strauss. never heard of him? neil strauss?! the author of "the game"? worlds greatest pick-up-artist (pua), THE cassanova of the 21st century? no?
well, never mind. neil used to be a talented writer for the rolling stone and the art section of the new york times,he was a ghostwriter on several books (on rockstars and porn-chicks) and has now quiete some success with his book "the game".
its about the secret society of pick-up-artists and much more than a stupid "how to" book on picking up girls. his thesis is that any guy can get any girl - "especially if she is married for longer than 2 years..." - the guy just needs the right broom to sweep the chick off her manolos.
when i read the book (less than 48 hours) i was quiete amused and well entertained by some of the stories in there - he used his routines on britney, paris hilton and courtney love and some other 700 chicks that had no clue this nerdy looking geek was actually working a sheme on them - and got what he wanted. actually, most of the semi-scientific ideas strauss and his pua-friends came up with make a lot of sense. and actually seem to work...
when i met him earlier today i was quiete shocked to find out that the 2 years of research and sarging really changed this nice and sophisticated man into a typical LA-creature, driven by the fatal whish to life the lifestyle of the people he used to write about.
maybe neil should have been happy with only 4 sexual adventures in his life and stayed a nice, interesting guy, who cant afford a fancy house in the hills, but has a soul and not a closet full of obnoxious cloth for so called peacocking...
my theory is that if neil had never started researching in this field (caused by his natural desire to get laid himself), mastering the game and sleeping with hunderds of woman (as a revenge for being a virgin till after college) he would be gay now...
anyway, the book is still worth reading - and hopefully neil gets his feet back on the ground by the time the film comes out...
